We are thrilled to share that Mackay Wanderers FC has officially received a confirmed Tier 2 rating as part of the Football Queensland (FQ) Academy Club Development Assessment program! This recognition reflects our club’s strong commitment to: Developing high-quality coaching and player pathways Enhancing technical and developmental capabilities Creating more opportunities for our regional talent to shine on the state stage As the first and only club in the region to receive this rating, being selected for this program places us among Queensland’s most promising development clubs, and opens the door to greater engagement with FQ events, competitions, and support. A huge thank you to our dedicated coaches, volunteers, players, and families, this achievement is a testament to your passion and hard work. Football Queensland’s Club Assessment Rank Score continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the #FQAcademy Leagues
Throughout the year, each club is evaluated across 1,500 data points covering 75 weighted criteria, with the culmination of this process seeing clubs receive a final quality assured academy rating of Gold, Silver, Bronze or Development Committed. Aligned with global best practice, the Club Development Assessment process ensures clubs deliver quality assured programs and clear pathways for young players. The 2025 Club Development and Assessment Guide is now available, offering deeper insight into the criteria used in this year's assessment process. Congratulations to Mackay Wanderers who successfully been provided 'Development Committed' status in 2026, allowing them to be clearly benchmarked against clubs across the FQ Academy pyramid. These clubs who have received their ‘FQ Development Committed’ badge will have the opportunity to work towards a Tier 1 rating in the coming years to achieve a Bronze, Silver or Gold rating.
